Well not desperation, we had free slots, and they wanted to compete so we let them race. When the grid becomes full of UK/IRE drivers they will have to find somewhere else to drive.
Got in a bit late here, but this is what I feel about wired networking through powerlines.
These systems work fine from my understanding. depending on the quality of the unit you buy will depend on the bandwidth which ranges from about 6Mb/sto above 120Mb/s which makes it much faster than wireless, and more secure for less money IMO. You are limited because you still must be wired into the unit, but for people that want to network their house, and have wired capability, without any drilling or alterations to run cat5 it's a great option, especially for us renters out there =) http://www.more-shop.co.uk/ves ... erline-adapter-p-342.html
Like TAA said they are single phase and don't effect power transmission to any big degree as most electronics have filters that will filter out this communication and because of the limited amounts of power being used these filters can easily handle what the filter will perceive as 'noise' on the transmission line which is usually present to a certain degree anyways IIRC, just more than likely not in an intelligent signal form and literally just noise =)
Saying all this the last time I really delved into any type of electronic theory and signaling was a few years ago so I could be off the mark =)
I agree! The turbo is manageable and can be effective, but it takes someone with great throttle skills to keep that boost from bleeding off, but not enough throttle to apply too much power to the wheels on exit.
FZR here for me. I hate the feeling of understeering and oversteering at the same time. The car rotates easy enough but is very hard on the rears if you're not careful. I dislike everything about the FZR and I won't come within 10 foot of driving one if I don't have to.
The XRR when driven very hard ends up becoming a snowplow, especially on mid-corner for me. But for me understeering is much more controllable than an oversteer and I am happy to push wide if I come in too hot. The balance on the XRR is very good IMO, just need to get rid of the turbo lag...
The idea was to run a couple flagship series and then let 3rd parties handle their own through our servers.
The best UKCT can do at the moment is the UK eTM, until X2 is out we don't really have anything more to offer anyone.
I have always wanted to do a TBO league, but if Becky is considering I won't go down that route.
I think it's safe to say motordirex that there will eventually be another TBO league, but either Becky does the STCC again, or UKCT creates another, similar series, I don't know. No promises mind you, UKCT doesn't really have the time currently to create a series just yet =)
If you have the cash to fork out for a GTR, and want to keep the warrenty I think this is a great tool for car manufacturers.
Like Tristan said alot of people claim warrenty work when in actuality the warrenty is void because the owner had altered the vehicle in ways the manufacturer has not control over. With a system like this in place it will hopefully cut the cost of buying warrenty and make it more viable for cars to have longer and longer warrenties.
I takes practice to get the timing just right =) A mouse is a bit different because you can reach 100% braking all the time. I would sugjest buying a cheap FFB wheel, IIRC you can get them for $50 now.
If you have to use more than 270degree's steering to drive a racecar under 'normal conditions there is something wrong with your driving =) I have turned my sensitivity down so that my first 1/2 of rotation is equivalent to a 1/4 of rotation in LFS, something like that anyways.
Like many people said before me, you don't need a 900degree wheel but it will make the realism that much better.
I agree, may actually be able to watch a full race where the grid isn't decided by T1 =) These are the two best bits I have heard in a long time, give some racing back to the drivers!
As of right now they are all the same tire, but hopefully eventually we will be able to select different brand tires that have different characteristics, other than tire compound.
Quicksilver, you don't need to save a replay, all replay's are saved on the server so all you have to do is let us know the server and the time. Best bet would be to file a wrecker report and give us the details after you log back in.
Well we do have admin slots. We don't mind people sitting the server waiting to join. If they want to race somewhere else they will leave and join another server =)
After a quick chat with Sam we decided to bump up the slots on SS1 to 28 drivers, we will monitor and see if we get any major problems.
We could run 2 servers, we have tried that before, it works well for a few weeks then both servers die off because neither become full.
We intentionally leave the limit set to 20 to avoid excess carnage and leave some clean track for beginners to find their feet. This is the same for Race1 as well.
I would love to turn it up to a full grid, but we have had problems in the past with it and our solution was to limit the number of racers.
